Happy new year, everyone!! And hello, 2007.
One of the resolutions I didn't remember to list was the desire to finally finish this project. It will officially hit the two year mark in April, so I'm only giving myself until then to get the last two girls done.
Here's an outtake from the still unpublished "Patty" reshoot:

Once upon a time, all it took to do this was a roll of Fuji Velvia 50, a 5-stop push, and a few hours in the dark room. If anyone actually appreciates what that means, I'll send you this picture.

I guess what I should have written is that anyone who actually knows what that means will get that picture. Because, lets face it, film photography--and its alternative processes--is a dying art.

Hum, using a low iso and then making up the exposure in the dark room?
That photo scares me.
Close, cutie-pie. What it means is to shoot film at a different ISO, processing it in such a way to make up the difference between its actual rating and what you shot, and then playing around with the results in the darkroom. I used to do this for hours and days on end.

Yeah, I've heard of darkrooms. They have red lightbulbs, right? Like hoorhouses?
They're actually amber, Dr. S. Red light ruins photo-sensitive paper. And when you're working in color, you don't get ANY light. Pitch black, just like I like it. ;)

I appreciate what you mean in the sense that I spent dozens of hours in the college photo lab some 8 years ago, back when I actually thought I might become a photographer.
Personally, I think there is something artistically satisfiying about developing photos yourself, and you have way more control over what the picture looks like since I haven't seen a digital that lets you manipulate the focus of the picture yet, but I sucked big time with develping color photos, so I kind of like digital.
If I recall correctly, the 5 stop push refers to your camera having 5 F-stops. I can't say I'm familiar with Fuji Vevia 50 though.
Do I win?
you shot 50 speed film at something like ISO 1600 then 'pushed' it in developing to compensate.
