December by the Numbers

2008 is finally here. For the first time in a long time, I actually don't feel like the last year flew by in a flash. I know I've complained about time passing faster than I can keep up, but the truth is, so much happened in the last year that I feel like I finally got my money's worth.

November by the Numbers

Sorry for the delay. There was a bit of disappointment over the weekend that led to my boyfriend Karl Dorrell losing his job. So sad. Part of the fun of watching the games was to catch him in that blue polo.

L'sigh.

An Event by the Numbers

I just pulled off one of the most chaotic events of my life. Mostly because it required coordination between 4 separate organizations, none of which seemed to want to help me out by cooperating. Fuckers.

And this was for a charity, of all things! Remind me to never do that again.

This is how it went:

6 weeks from notice to execution
16,000 dollar food and beverage minimum
600 estimated attendees
9 top level sponsors
70 mid-level sponsors
27 hours personally dedicated to this in the last 3 days
46.5 man hours of staff time in the last 2 days
5 feds on site
1 super happy GPG
75 minutes spent in heels
1 back-up pair of flats
27,000 dollars spent on food alone
400 dollar bar minimums
6 cash bars
2400 dollars in alcohol apparently consumed
756 confirmed attendees
2 hours of cocktails
175,000 dollars raised for charity
1 very weary GPG

All this and I supposedly was also thanked in the speeches. Of course, I wasn't in the room to hear this, but I was told about it after the fact. Which is almost as good. Except not at all. Because if I'm going to work my ass off this hard for something that wasn't even supposed to be my responsibility, I want to bask in my 2 seconds of glory, dammit! Especially in a room filled with 700 drunken people.

But at least I got the feds. And that alone is worth its weight in yummy.

I never said my job didn't have an upside.

11.04.2007

October by the Numbers

Oh it's late. Again. Sue me. No really, go ahead. I have lawyers in my pockets. And I'm just dying to force them to do my bidding. For 33%. Unless we go to trial, then it's 40%.

Fucking lawyers. They're also the reason last month's wrap up is so late. Lets all hate them together.

September by the Numbers

I usually start these monthly rundowns off by complaining about how fast the time passed, don't I? This one is no different. Because I honestly cannot comprehend how we're in the last quarter of the year. Can you?

The days between Monday and Friday are passing so goddamn quickly that my weekends are now completely consumed with doing as little as absolutely possible. Doing not a fucking thing would be best. We'll see how that works out this month.

And then at the end: Halloween!!!

But for now, September:

25 days being in charge
1 new hire
15 days spent holding her hand
1 new client group
4 of the company's former presidents present at the first meeting
30 minutes making them laugh at my jokes
2 cocktail parties
1 massive ongoing headache that just won't go away
2 birthdays
3 day holiday spent firmly rooted to the couch with Monsieur
1 backache earned for that laziness
6 chiro visits trying to fix that mistake
46 pictures shot in his icky parking structure
45 minutes with a camera down my throat, enjoying the best sleep of my life
20 minutes in recovery, screwing with the oximeter probe to make the machine look like an Etch-a-sketch (the nurses didn't like that)
2 days spent fasting

And yeah, that's about it. All I did was work all month, so I didn't do anything fun. Even those cocktail parties were work. Man, I gotta get out more.

Or just stay home and rest. Yeah, that.

No single month has passed faster than April. Seriously. Not even short little February. I think it's the fact that a) my birthday is in 10 days, and b) I'm so busy I don't know what day it really is. If it weren't for my birthday being in 10 days, I'd be totally lost.

Did I mention my birthday is in TEN DAYS?!!!

Just want to make sure you know.
